A purpose-built modular high-performance data centre engineered for the Perun supercomputing environment at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Designed to support sustained high-density HPC and AI workloads, the solution combines direct liquid cooling, redundant power and cooling architecture, advanced monitoring and long-term scalability within a prefabricated containerised design.

01
The Challenge

The project required infrastructure capable of supporting very high rack power densities under continuous full-load operation, while maintaining high availability, thermal efficiency and N+1 redundancy across critical systems. The complete HPC environment also had to be delivered in less than one year, significantly faster than a conventional construction approach would allow.

02
The Solution

NTR engineered and delivered a fully customised modular containerised data centre integrating high-density IT space, modular UPS with lithium-ion batteries, separate A and B power paths, direct liquid cooling, supplementary air cooling, fire protection, physical security and an integrated BMS/DCIM platform. The cooling architecture combines high-temperature direct liquid cooling with adiabatic heat rejection and supplementary air cooling, enabling efficient operation under sustained computational loads.

03
The Result

The completed data centre provides the Slovak Academy of Sciences with a stable, highly available environment for large-scale simulations, advanced modelling, data-intensive research and AI workloads. Its modular architecture enables future capacity expansion without major structural modifications, while the prefabricated delivery model reduced deployment time and infrastructure risk.
